The Bright Morning Star: One of my many revered “Crossroads Spirits.”

I decided to write about the "Crossroads." My mentee sparked this writing after I was talking to her about how she forgot to give her "Crossroads Spirit" offerings and how vital this step is. And how this part of the basics. I teach those I mentor. Godchildren and clients need to know that you must pay your dues to the "Spirit of the Crossroads," The "Crossroads" holds a significant place in spiritual practices, serving as a vital connection between different realms and energies. Various names and paths, such as Eshu, Exu, Saint Peter, Morning Star, or the Devil (And not the devil as people know in Christian dogmatic belief), The “Crossroad Spirits” represent these powerful spiritual entities. Acknowledging and building a personal relationship with the "Spirit of the Crossroads" in Black-Indigenous spiritual traditions is essential. This relationship forms the cornerstone of spiritual practices and requires sacrifices, offerings, and respect to foster a deep connection to helping change practitioners' lives.

"Offerings typically consist of food and drink but can include clothing and other tangible items. Ritualistic sacrifices require a priest or priestess or someone who has a license to perform sacrifices in their tradition or lineage. It should be noted that many Hoodoo Rootwork lineages, include animal sacrifices".

The "Spirit of the Crossroads" manifests in different forms and energies across spiritual traditions; they are called upon differently in each Spiritual tradition. Still, the message is that In the lively realm of Black-Indigenous Spirituality, the revered 'Crossroads' energy shines from Brazil to the Bayou, serving as a guide and gatekeeper between realms. Establishing a solid relationship with this Spirit is crucial before delving into other spiritual practices. The "Crossroads Spirits" are pivotal in rituals and ceremonies, demanding recognition and reverence. Attempting to bypass or overlook this essential step can lead to setbacks in one's spiritual journey.

“It is important to understand that receiving a "Spirit of the Crossroads" does not mean that Spirit can assist with everything. Depending on an individual's destiny or goals, they may need to personally receive or work with multiple "Crossroad Spirits" to achieve their goals and objectives”.

Before delving into other "Spirits," one must build with your G-d and oneself, and then your Ancestors reign supreme. Then, you need to create a solid relationship with the "Spirit of the Crossroads." Crossroads Spirits are pivotal in every rite and ritual and demand acknowledgment. Attempting to bypass this guide leads your ass straight back to your Ancestors, and if you try to bypass your healing of self, well, let's see how far you get with your Ancestors. There are no shortcuts in this work here!

"Did you know that some people inherit their "Crossroads Spirits"? These spirits can be passed down and can help a certain subset of people in a family or even an entire family. For example, one of my “Crossroads Spirits” is the same as my Mom's. I couldn't receive that Spirit until my Mom was ready to receive hers. It's the same “Crossroads Spirit” as my Maternal Great Grandmother's."
