Yayi, I have definitely thought about you as my mentor.. You know I told you I was drawn to you the moment I heard your talk in The Farm. These thoughts were right on time as some of these things I have already asked my self and KNOW about myself and some I have not. My soul purpose has always been knowledge, to remember who I am, know my ancestors and how to decode the messages, how to work with herbs and divine. I have not yet uncovered if I want to actually perform these things for " The Public" so to speak; is that wrong? I think my challenge would be how I am colonized with time and fixated on time ie lets meet every Thur at 7:30.. and I recognize spirit doesn't work that way; but does that mean I am not ready?
Aw, thank you for such kind words. You teach me a lot as well. Like corporate lingo lol π
And how corporate Hoodoos show up in the world and workplace. You certainly bring lots of laughter to our classes.
As my elders told me to become a good Hoodoo, it is said that one needs their own daily practices. And the humility to accept that you will always need elders, teachers, and community, we are not meant to walk this path or earth alone.
And compassion to share what you learn. It may not be in a teaching capacity, like mine, to the public, but sharing what you've learned with those who need or ask for it can be just as valuable, whether it's family, friends, or even your own children. Or someone who needs it in passing.
Your daily Hoodoo practice is essential for many reasons. It is the foundation for your personal growth, and ultimately, it's in your daily practice where you will learn how far and with whom you can share.
