Happy Moonday Musings, y'all
How you guys doing? When I am writing this, I still have a little New Moon hangover myself.
But let's get ready for Aquarius Season
I am doing something a little different this year.
I will feature the Zodiac sign each month and go into more detail on the sign and herbology associated with the sign; let me know if you like the new layout of how I am writing up the Monthly Zodiac, focusing on the sign and adding a little more history.
Aquarius Season can start approximately - from Jan. 19-20 and runs to Feb. 18-19. This year, it seems as if Aquarius Season won't be starting until after 2:00PMEST on January 20, 2024. This means that anyone born on January 19th this year is entirely a part of the Capricorn Season for 2024 and beyond.
Pisces Season will start after 4:00 am EST on February 20, 2024, making anyone born this year on February 19th will be a part of the Aquarius Season.
Hapi Early Egyptian God Of The Nile And Bringer Of Fertility And Abundance
Aquarius Mythology
In Egyptian mythology, the Aquarius Zodiac is associated with the god Hapi, the god of the annual flooding of the Nile River. Nile's flooding and agricultural cycle brought fertile silt to land and made for bountiful harvests.
Hapi pictures often were of a figure pouring water from one vessel into other vessels, representing the life-giving water of the Nile. This is how it became associated with the Aquarius Water Bearer.
Aquarius with Hapi in Egyptian Astrology/ Astronomy represents abundance, nourishment, cycles of nature, birth, and renewal. The annual flooding of the Nile resulted in the fertility of the land, which was an essential part of ancient Egyptian life, and Hapi's role in life was deeply revered.
While connections interplay with Aquarius and Hapi in Egyptian mythology, the concept of the Zodiac Signs in Western astrology, including Aquarius, developed much later in date and separately and is believed to have borrowed from the Ancient Egyptian pantheon as well as other pantheons—the linking between Ancient Mythologies and Astrological Symbolism allows us to see a bigger picture of the Zodiac Sign.
Aquarius myths start with Ganymedes; I am giving you the cliff notes version of this myth. Ganymedes, who, in Greek mythology, was a good-looking, pretty boy prince. Zeus was so in love with him and carried him off to the Heavens as an eagle; that is how the eagle became associated with Aquarius as a symbol. He was housed in the constellation of Aquarius, where he gave him the job of water bearer. He was also known as the god of homosexual love, and in some stories, he had a relationship with the god of love, Eros, for his bug heart, which Aquarius is known for. Ganymedes also had love stories with the god of martial love, Aquarius, who, in many magical lineages and wizardry, played and still plays a huge role in love work for the immense love that they give. One of the shadow parts of Aquarius is learning through relationships and love, not giving too much of oneself to love and losing oneself or becoming a prisoner of love or to one lover.
